Braces have come a long way, and can be a fine way to align teeth for many people.  There are some patients, however, for whom braces are not possible or desirable. At Life Dental & Orthodontics, one option for these patients is Invisalign®, a state-of-the-art orthodontic system that straightens teeth using clear plastic aligners.

What to Expect from the Invisalign System

Not only are the aligners almost completely invisible to other forms of orthodontics, but they also are removable, comfortable, and convenient. That means you can take them out when you eat and drink or when you have a special occasion. You also can remove these aligners when brushing and flossing your teeth. However, remember that the Invisalign system must be worn at least 20-22 hours per day to achieve ideal results.

Every four to six weeks, you will visit us to receive a new set of aligners and have your progress assessed. Each set of aligners will slowly bring your teeth into alignment.

Benefits of Invisalign include:

  • Convenience – Invisalign lacks the wires of traditional braces that can make it difficult to clean teeth.
  • Comfort – Invisalign’s clear plastic aligners have smooth edges and do not irritate teeth and gums like other appliances sometimes do. No tightening of wires either!
  • Results – For the appropriate patient, the Invisalign system has a high success rate providing results that can be achieved in about one year.
  • For all ages – Invisalign is great for teens, and adults. Many adults may shy away from orthodontic treatment, but the clear plastic aligners with their greater comfort and convenience make Invisalign a realistic option for these adults to consider.

Having straight teeth makes it easier to maintain good oral health throughout your entire life, as well as giving you the benefit of a beautiful smile.  We invite you to call us at (925) 934-3434 to learn more about Invisalign, and to schedule your consultation at our office in Walnut Creek, California, with Dr. Brian J.
